James “Jay” R. Bertelli
Jay Bertelli is the Chairman of the Board of Directors. A co-founder of Mercury Computer Systems, Inc. in 1981, Mr. Bertelli is Mercury Computer System’s Executive Chairman of the Board (NASDAQ: MRCY). He recognized an opportunity to build high-performance accelerator processors to increase the performance of demanding scientific and industrial applications, which led to the launching of Mercury Computer Systems. Mr. Bertelli most recently served as the Company’s President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board. Prior to founding Mercury, Mr. Bertelli served Analogic Corporation in sales management positions where he developed the awareness of a market need for specialized, high-performance attached processors. He received the Ernst & Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award for New England in the technology manufacturing/hardware category in June 2002. Mr. Bertelli earned an electrical engineering degree from Northeastern University.
Hal Charnley, President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Mr.Charnley joined NetClarity in 2010 as our President/CEO. Hal brings over 20 years of executive leadership expertise in high growth environments to NetClarity. From 2004 through 2009, Hal was the President of a leading regional specialty subcontractor. Hal provided leadership for this $30M business with 200 employees. Under Hal’s leadership, the company was recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in the U.S. by Inc. Magazine three years in a row. Previously, Hal was the Founder and President/CEO of Artel Video Systems, a $50M provider of advanced switching and optical transport equipment to the global Telecom and CATV markets. Prior to Artel, Hal was a member of the Executive team at Chipcom, a leading provider of networking equipment to the Global 5000.
He holds BS, MS and MBA degrees and is past Chairman of UMass Lowell. He is a founding member of the High Growth CEO Forum, and active member of the Boston CEO Club, a member of the Turnaround Management Association, a former adjunct Graduate School Professor, and a board member for several private companies. He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of business topics focused around entrepreneurship, change management and business transitions.
Gary S. Miliefsky, Founder & Chief Technology Officer (CTO)
Mr. Miliefsky is the Founder of NetClarity. He is also a founding member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, serves on the Advisory Board to The Mitre Corporation’s CVE program, is a Founding Director of the National Information Security Group (NAISG.org) and is widely recognized as the inventor of agentless, non-inline network access control (NAC) technology. He is a member of ISC2.org, CISSP® and on the Advisory Board of the Center for the Study of Counter-Terrorism and Cyber Crime at Norwich University. He served as an informal advisor on Cyber defense to two White House administrations. He has over 20 security related patents in his portfolio.
Dr. Albert P. Belle Isle
Dr. Albert Belle Isle is an independent investor in technology-based companies. For six years he was President of Custom Silicon, Inc., a venture capital-backed semiconductor business, which he subsequently sold to NCR Corporation. This followed three years as vice president in charge of a division of Wang Laboratories, Inc. For five years prior to that, he was director of an industrial research laboratory with the General Electric Company, after a decade of engineering and management positions in GE’s aerospace business. Dr. Belle Isle graduated from GE’s program for general managers at Crotonville, NY, after earning a BEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MS and a PhD from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. In his early career he authored papers in Automatica and the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, and was granted patents for digital circuits and computer architectures. He is a senior member of IEEE, a member of Sigma Xi, and has held adjunct faculty appointments at Boston University, Syracuse University, Union College and MIT.
Arthur Fox
Mr. Fox is a nationally recognized authority on royalty based venture finance. He co-founded Royalty Capital Fund in 1992 and Royalty Capital Fund LP I in 1995, the first successful venture capital funds to employ a unique, royalty based investment methodology conceived by Mr. Fox. His methodology has been developed and refined over a period of sixteen years, and is the methodology employed by Royalty Capital New England. Mr. Fox has been a principal and co-founder of three technology companies, Octek Inc., Lexidata Corp. and Medicel Inc. Octek’s and Lexidata’s investors received a substantial return on their investment when Octek was acquired by a Fortune 500 company and Lexidata conducted a successful IPO. He has been a mentor and close business advisor to many new and emerging companies. Mr. Fox has a strong technology background. Earlier in his career, Mr. Fox held design engineering positions with the Hewlett Packard Company and the Westinghouse Corporation. He holds an MSEE degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BSEE degree from the University of Maryland.
